What Pages Does a Small Business Website Need?

By Elite Mercato TeamPublished October 22, 20263 min read

When planning a new website, it is easy to either build too little or try to include everything at once. Most small businesses need the same core set of pages, each with a clear job. Start with these, then add more as your business grows.

Home page

Your home page should tell visitors in a few seconds what you do, who you help and what to do next. Include a clear headline, a short summary of your main services, signs of trust such as reviews or client logos, and an obvious button to contact you or get a quote. Keep it focused rather than trying to say everything.

Services pages

If you offer more than one service, give each its own page. A separate page for each service helps visitors find exactly what they need and helps search engines understand what you offer. Explain what is included, who it is for, how the process works and how to get started. Answer the questions customers usually ask.

About page

People buy from people. Your about page explains who is behind the business, your experience, what you believe in and why customers can trust you. A real photo of you or your team makes a big difference.

Contact page

Make getting in touch easy. Include a short contact form, your email address, a phone number, WhatsApp or chat if you use it, your business hours and, if relevant, your location with a map. Tell people how quickly you usually reply.

Portfolio or case studies

Showing real work is one of the strongest ways to win trust. Add examples of projects with a short description of the problem, what you did and the result. Even two or three good examples are better than none.

Testimonials and reviews

Real feedback from customers reassures new visitors. Use full names and businesses where clients agree, link to independent reviews such as your Google Business Profile, and place short quotes on your service pages as well as on a dedicated page.

FAQ page

A frequently asked questions page saves time for you and your customers. Answer questions about pricing, timelines, process and what happens after a sale. FAQs can also help your pages appear for the questions people type into search engines.

Blog

A blog is not essential on day one, but it is one of the best ways to be found in search over time. Helpful articles that answer your customers' questions bring in visitors who are already interested in what you do.

Depending on where you operate and what your site does, you may need a privacy policy, a cookie policy and terms and conditions. These are especially important if you collect personal data through forms or sell online. Check the rules that apply in the countries you serve.

A helpful 404 page

When someone follows a broken or mistyped link, a friendly 404 page with links to your main sections keeps them on your site instead of losing them.

Start small and grow

You do not need everything at once. A clear home page, service pages, an about page and a contact page are enough to launch. Add case studies, a blog and more content as you go.
