Cyber Monday 2026 Checklist for Small Online Stores

By Elite Mercato TeamPublished November 6, 20264 min read

Cyber Monday 2026 lands on November 30, three days after Black Friday. By then most small store owners are tired, half their stock is gone, and the temptation is to just repeat Friday's offer and hope for the best.

That's a shame, because Cyber Monday shoppers behave a little differently. Many of them have already looked around over the weekend. They're back to finish their list, often from a work laptop or a phone during a break. They want a clear deal and a quick checkout, not a long browse.

Here's a checklist you can work through this month, in roughly the order it matters.

Decide what Cyber Monday is for

Before you touch a discount code, decide what you want from the day. For some stores it's clearing slow-moving stock. For others it's picking up new email subscribers who'll buy again in December. Those two goals need different offers, so pick one.

  • Clearing stock: put the deal on specific products or bundles, not the whole store.
  • New customers: a modest store-wide offer plus free shipping often works better than a deep cut on a few items.
  • Protecting margin: a gift with purchase over a set order value raises basket size without discounting everything.

Check stock before you promote anything

Nothing annoys a customer more than clicking an email and finding the product sold out. On the Sunday night, go through your best sellers and hide or mark anything that's run out over the weekend. If you sell on Amazon, TikTok Shop or eBay as well, check that stock levels still match across channels. Overselling on a marketplace can hurt your account far longer than one bad day of sales. Our inventory management checklist walks through the basics.

Make checkout fast on a phone

Open your own store on your phone and buy something. Seriously. Watch for pop-ups that cover the button, discount codes that don't apply, and shipping costs that only appear at the last step. Express checkouts such as Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay save people a lot of typing, so make sure they're switched on and visible.

If pages feel slow, remove an app or two you added for the sale and don't really need. Every extra script costs a little speed.

Plan two emails, not five

By Monday your subscribers have received a dozen sale emails from everyone. Two well-timed messages will do more than a flood:

  1. Monday morning: the offer in the subject line, one main product or bundle, one button.
  2. Monday evening: a short reminder that the deal ends at midnight, with the time zone written out.

Leave out anyone who already bought over the weekend, or send them a simple thank-you instead.

Show your holiday shipping cut-off

Cyber Monday is when "will it arrive before Christmas?" questions really start. Put your last order date for holiday delivery in the announcement bar, on product pages and in your emails. It answers the question before it's asked and gives people a real reason to order now.

Get ready for the messages

Expect more questions on Monday and Tuesday: order changes, missing discount codes, delivery dates. Prepare saved replies for the five most common ones, and decide who answers messages in the evening, when many US shoppers are online. A slow reply on a sale day often turns into a cancelled order or a chargeback.

After midnight

Turn the discount off on time, or set it to end automatically. Then, on Tuesday, look at three numbers: orders, average order value and refund requests. Write down what worked while it's fresh. You'll thank yourself next November.

Frequently asked questions

When is Cyber Monday 2026?

Cyber Monday 2026 is on Monday, November 30, the Monday after Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

Should my Cyber Monday deal be different from Black Friday?

It helps. A different product, a bundle, free shipping or a gift with purchase gives returning shoppers a new reason to buy instead of repeating the same offer.

How many emails should I send on Cyber Monday?

For most small stores, two is enough: one in the morning with the offer and one in the evening as a last reminder before the deal ends.
